ご意見を頂いていました。
私自身、インナーは長い登りでしか使わないのですが、そういう選び方もあるんだという話だと思っていただければ。
インナー×トップは厳禁ポジションなのか？の記事にコメントです。
インナートップ付近は使えるとやはり楽です。ただコンパクトクランクは物理的にきついかもしれません。使うのは私もトップから3段目（13T）になります。
登坂好きなので、インナートップ付近は登坂アプローチで30キロオーバー出てしまう所では良く使います、3段目の13Tでケイデンス90で30キロ前後出せますからね。
そこから10％越えの激坂までフロント変速しないで良いのでチェーン落ちなんてトラブルも起きません。
蛇足ですがトップ11Tのカセットを入れないと、インナートップ付近のおいしいギア13Tが使いにくくなります。
シマノのカセットの多くが11Tトップなのは、たすき掛けロスが酷くならないトップから3段目に13T入れる為でしょう。11Tなんて要らないと思う人の多くは、インナーの使用範囲が低い為だと思います。
ジュニアカセットの14-28は貧脚向きと言われますが、実は登坂でFD使わせるので貧脚向きとは言えません。平地で30キロ前後の巡航維持は凄い使い易いギアだとは思います。
私の場合、34×13Tは正直使うことはありません。

考え方次第
まあ確かに、登りメインのコースで、フロントをインナー縛りにした場合、フロントをインナーの34Tのままリアを13Tにすれば時速30キロ程度は出せます。
トップ14Tのジュニアカセットにすると、確かにインナー×トップにするとチェーンラインは斜めになるので、ロスが生じる。
フロントインナーでリアを13Tで使いたい場合、チェーンラインを考えてトップ11Tのスプロケを選ぶというのもアリかもしれません。
似たような考えで、平坦のために11-34Tのスプロケを使っているという人も。
チェーンラインを取るか、ギアレシオを取るかみたいな話になってくるのですが、スプロケの歯数選びって意外と奥が深い。
私が乗っているロードバイクも、完成車付属のスプロケについては11-34Tか11-32Tでした。
どっちだったか正確には思い出せませんが、当初よりそんなワイドギアは要らないと思っていたので、購入時に11-28Tに変更してもらってます。
私はギアレシオ優先で、あんまりチェーンラインまでは考えていません。
長い登りの峠ではインナー縛りになりますが、平坦になるときにはフロントをアウターにしますし。
まあ、いろんな考え方があるということで。
フロントシングルの話
アウター×ロー、インナー×トップはたすき掛けが強いから避けるべきというのはよく知られた話なんですが、それを言い出すとフロントシングルの場合はどうなるんだ？？という問題も実はあります。
シマノはご丁寧にチェーンラインまで公表していますが、ダブルとシングルではこのような違いがあります。

ダブルの場合、チェーンラインというのはアウターとインナーの中間です。
シングルの場合は、一枚しかないチェーンリングを指すと思いますが、シマノのシングルクランクの場合、チェーンリングの位置はダブルのアウター相当と見ていいかと。
そうなった場合、リアのトップとローの両端については、チェーンは斜めに掛かります。
これが実質的に使うべきではないギアなのか？というとそういう話でもないようです。
シングルのチェーンリングの場合、チェーン落ちしないように歯先がナローワイドになっているので、リアをインナーにしてチェーンテンションが落ちてもそこまで問題ではないのかも。
12s化、13s化に伴い、フロントシングルのロードバイクが今後出てくる可能性はあるのですが、チェーンラインを真っ直ぐにして使いたい派の人からすると、無し・・・ですかね？？
このあたりは考え方次第なので、正解があるわけではないと思いますが。
私の場合、使いたいギア比だけで考えて選ぶのですが、クロスレシオで使いたいのか、常用ギアのチェーンラインを真っ直ぐにしたいのか、考え方次第ですね。
